Inspiring Vic Bushfire Fundraiser
My very first two cents that I would like to add to the pot is to publicly congratulate a recent fundraiser gig in Brisbane. Musicians between the ages of 13 and 25 grouped together at the Indooroopilly Hotel last month and raised $10,000 that went directly to the victims of the Victorian bushfires. In a time full of such negativity, including terrorism and the economic crisis, the show I saw regained my faith in humans and the kindness we all have to share... such an inspiration! The bands included The Trilby Dogs, Joy's Horizon, and headliners Expedition Pie.
Let us hope that this true Aussie nature of giving eachother a hand will never fade away!
Here is a video of Expedition Pie playing on the night.
You can also visit their MySpace at www.myspace.com/expie
I'd also like to add the importance of blood donation. The bushfire tragedy again demonstrated the severe lack of blood donated by Australians each year, despite blood donation banks being quite numerous and accessible. We may not all be able to play in a rock band to help out when times are tough, but many of us can give the gift of our blood. Major donor centres are located in Brisbane City, Strathpine, Springwood and Chermside, along with many mobile donor centres. For more information visit www.donateblood.com.au or call 13 14 95.
